Cape Blanco Heritage Society (CBHS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) membership organization located on the southern Oregon coast. It exists to support three historic properties located in state parks near Sixes and Port Orford. As a cooperative association we work closely with Oregon Parks & Recreation Department. Volunteers offer interpretive and educational services at each site and help keep them open so the public can visit. Donations and membership dues provide some of the funding needed to preserve and restore the historic legacies found here.
- Cape Blanco Light Station (1870)
- Hughes House and Ranch (1898)
- Port Orford Lifeboat Station (1934)
Public tours are offered from May through September at all three sites. Tours are available Wednesday through Monday, 10am to 3:30 pm (CLOSED TUESDAYS). Each landmark property preserves significant elements from the past and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If you appreciate visiting these sites, please consider becoming a volunteer host for Cape Blanco Historic Society (CBHS) or Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD). Contact CBHS at either 541-332-0521 or 541-253-7565, or OPRD at 541-332-6774 for more information.
