The South Coast Humane Society (SCHS) is a public, non-profit animal shelter. We have been serving the community since 1992 and are dedicated to providing shelter for the lost, abandoned, and surrendered animals within Curry County.
Our shelter is located at 828 Railroad Street in Brookings, and is open from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m., seven days a week. Animals up for adoption must first be spayed and/or neutered, have all their shots brought up to date, get wormed and flea-medicated, and the dogs get micro-chipped.
We offer other services besides adoption, like community assistance, education, low cost spay & neuter, and our LOW COST clinics (held on the first Saturday of every month). Sales at the SCHS Thrift Store (located in Harbor on Highway 101 South) cover about 60% of the shelter expenses. All profits made at the thrift store go to support our animal shelter
Donations are always welcome! SCHS receives NO public sector funds, and relies totally on donations from private individuals and our thrift store sales to fund our shelter and humane programs.
